Zarif discussed the latest situation of Afghan parties within the framework of peace process in a phone contact with Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar late on Tuesday, and stressed that Iran is ready to offer any help for the improvement of the peace talks.
He also touched upon the role of neighboring countries in the peace process.
Zarif expressed satisfaction with the ongoing talks among the Afghan parties.
In relevant remarks, Iranian envoy to Kabul Bahador Aminian said that Tehran supports republicanism in Afghanistan, urging all political parties to protect democratic achievements that have been gained over the past 19 years.
Aminian made the remarks in his meeting with Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar on Tuesday.
The Iranian ambassador stressed Tehran’s support for intra-Afghan talks with the aim of reaching peace in the light of republicanism and called on all parties to safeguard the 19-year old achievements.
Atmar appreciated Tehran’s support for the peace talks in Afghanistan and Iran’s full cooperation with his country, especially with regards to the emigrants residing in Iran, as well as for identity registration, distribution of electronic birth certificates, and printed passports for them.
The two officials also discussed the importance of regional consensus on the issue of peace and immediate ceasefire in Afghanistan.
