Russia Christmas World Junior Wrestling Competitions was held in Moscow on December 26-27 where Iran's junior freestyle wrestling team snatched three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.
At the end of the international tournament, Ebrahim Khawri in the 45-kilogram weight category, Ali Arab Firouzjani in 48-kilogram weight division and Hossein Azizi in 110-kilogram weight class bagged gold medals while Hossein Asqari in 92-kilogram weight class won silver medal.
Ali Qolizadegan, Hassan Esmayeelnejad, Amir Ali Sabouteh bagged bronze medals in the weight categories of 55-kilogram, 65-kilogram and 80-kilogram, respectively.
Wrestling is one of most popular sports in Iran, and Iranian wrestlers are among the best practitioners of the field in the world making the country the world's powerhouse in the field and bringing home countless medals and titles from different tournaments and competitions around the world in a regular basis.
In a very recent case of Iranian Greco-Roman wrestlers' success, both of the dispatched Iranian freestyle wrestlers to Russia managed to win medals in the 2019 edition of the Alrosa Cup, also known as Moscow Grand Prix.
Last week, the freestyle squad of Bazar-e Bozorg-e Iran managed to garner the championship at the 6th World Wrestling Clubs Cup which was held in in the Northeastern Iranian city of Bojnourd.
