Iran Condoles with Turkey over Devastating Quake

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday expressed his condolences to his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul and the Turkish nation over a devastating quake in the country which killed more than 51 people.



Ahmadinejad voiced regret over the quake, and said the painful incident in Turkey which killed and wounded citizens of that country saddened the Islamic Republic government and Iranian people very profoundly.

He further expressed sympathy of the Iranian government and nation for the bereaved families of the victims and the Turkish government, and wished for the honor and prosperity of the brotherly and friendly Turkish government and nation.

The Turkish government announced the fatality toll at 51 and said at least 74 people were injured in the magnitude 6 quake that badly damaged six towns around 4:30 a.m. Monday.
